Butt out of national issues
Published 1 year, 6 months ago in My life.Yarra Council has done it again: got workers to sneak in at dead of night and hung another of its annoying banners over the facade of the Richmond Town Hall. Ratepayers bear the cost of the making and installing (with very expensive cherry-picker hire) of these blots on the landscape. We don’t get asked if we support or share the political views expressed, which generally are national rather than local. How about using the money to remove the garbage in the streets or fill in the potholes, or even getting officers to clear the footpaths of boozed bar patrons?

I am convinced most of these councils are inhabited (infected?) by would be politicians trying to get noticed by the Labor party for pre-selection!
Spot on, Grumpy. They are disposable as their ideas.
I guess you’re talking about the Sorry Day flags up there at the moment? Depends on your point of view on those issues, Yarra prides itself as a big supporter of Aboriginal events so guess they’re sticking to form this time.
I agree more money should go into street cleaning and fixing potholes, though some parts of Richmond (eg. areas around Bridge Rd) have it much better than others.
